Performance of a Turbine Rim Seal Subject to Rotationally-Driven and Pressure-Driven Ingestion

چکیده
Abstract This experimental study considered the performance of a chute rim seal downstream turbine nozzle guide vanes (but without rotor blades). The setup reproduced rotationally-driven ingestion and conditions pressure-driven with vanes. maximum speed was 9000 rpm corresponding to rotational Reynolds number 3.3 × 106 flow coefficient 0.45. Measurements mean pressures in annulus disk cavity as well values sealing effectiveness deduced from gas concentration data are presented. At high (low speeds), circumferential pressure variation generated by drove relatively levels into cavity. For given purge rate, increasing led reduction ingestion, shown higher effectiveness, despite presence upstream Uax/(Ωb)=0.45, approached that associated purely ingestion. A map against non-dimensional summarizes results illustrates combined effects on mechanism. imply is relevant parameter important many applications, especially turbines low coefficient.

Computational and Mathematical Modelling of Turbine Rim Seal Ingestion
Understanding and modelling of main annulus gas ingestion through turbine rim seals is considered and advanced in this paper. Unsteady 3-dimensional computational fluid dynamics (CFD) calculations and results from a more elementary model are presented and compared with experimental data previously published by Hills et al (1997). The most complete CFD model presented includes both stator and ro...
متن کاملEvent-driven and Attribute-driven Robustness
Over five decades have passed since the first wave of robust optimization studies conducted by Soyster and Falk. It is outstanding that real-life applications of robust optimization are still swept aside; there is much more potential for investigating the exact nature of uncertainties to obtain intelligent robust models. For this purpose, in this study, we investigate a more refined description...
متن کاملInfluence of Membrane Sealing in Pressure-Driven Test Cells on Their Performance
This communication demonstrates the relevance of membrane sealing in a test cell to its performance. Membranes need to be sealed, and therefore a more or less signifcant (depending on the test cell design) peripheral part of the membrane is supported directly by the cell body (instead of a permeate spacer). Although it may seem that there should be no fltration through ...
متن کاملThe Effect of Property Rights on Entrepreneurship:Evidence from Some Factor-driven, Efficiency-driven, and Innovation-driven Countries
Entrepreneurship is influenced by many factors and environments such as institutions. Institutions have an important role to play in the individual's tendency toward necessity and opportunity entrepreneurship. The purpose of this paper was to examine the impact of institutional quality (property rights) on opportunity and necessity entrepreneurship. The results, based on unbalanced panel data f...
متن کاملOn rotationally driven meridional flows in stars
A quasi-steady-state model of the consequences of rotation on the hydrodynamical structure of a stellar radiative zone is derived by studying in particular the role of centrifugal and baroclinic driving of meridional motions in angular momentum transport. This non-linear problem is solved numerically, assuming axial symmetry of the system, and within some limits it is shown that there exist sim...
